Episode 12 – Bannock Babes Chilli
This week we cooked my favorite chilli from the Saskatoon Kinsmen Village Chili Cook Off.
Here’s the recipe cooked by the Wichitowin House #1 residents and staff at Sherbrooke. Marlene, Edie, Clarence, and Angela did the cooking and fine-tuned the seasonings.
Ingredients:
3 lbs lean ground beef
1 large onion, diced small
3 green peppers, chopped
1 lb mushrooms, chopped
½ bulb garlic, minced
2 cans kidney beans
3 cans pork n beans
1 can diced tomatoes
2 cans tomato paste
~ 2 tsp salt
~ 2 tsp black pepper
~ 4 Tbsp chili powder
~ 2 tsp garlic powder
~ 1 tsp cumin
A large skooch of molasses 
2 x 500 ml sour cream
1 lb shredded cheddar
Instructions:
Brown ground beef over medium heat, then drain off extra fat.
Add onion, peppers, mushrooms, and garlic and cook 5 min.
Add seasonings, canned beans, and tomatoes.
Simmer on low heat for 2 hours or more.
Add sour cream near the end of the cooking time and heat through.
Serve and top with shredded cheddar.
