The Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo has joined the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums, becoming the first accredited zoo in Saskatchewan.
WAZA was established in 1935 to keep zoos committed to animal care and conservation. There are now over 400 members worldwide, and 13 WAZA accredited zoos in Canada, such as Toronto Zoo, Calgary Zoo, and Assiniboine Park and Zoo.
Saskatoon Zoo Manager Jeff Mitchell says he is “Proud to be the leaders in conservation and education in Canada.”
