The countdown to when we find out which party forms the next government is looming closer. But if you have made up your mind who is your candidate and want to vote early, the Easter long weekend is your chance. The polls are open 9am to 9pm Friday through Monday. Official voting day is April 28th.
Regional spokesperson for Elections Canada, Marie-France Kenny notes that the rules are different than in provincial elections where you can vote at any polling place in the province. She explains that you can’t do that in a federal election. If you choose to vote during advance polling days, you need to vote at your assigned polling station, which is listed on your Voter Information Card. You can also find that information on the Elections Canada website.
In the last federal election in 2021, almost 5.9 million people voted at advance polls and about 10.2 million voted on election day or in their long-term care facility.
