The City of Saskatoon has again issued guidelines around interacting with wildlife in the city.
The City says warmer weather may mean encountering urban wildlife like coyotes, foxes, geese, jackrabbits and racoons.
The City says don’t feed the wildlife because it can make them lose thier natural fear of humans leading to increased encounters and potential conflicts.
Keep garbage, compost, bird seed and pet food out of reach as well always supervise pets when they are outside expecially at night. And wildlife are not pets; keep wildlife wild by not approaching or trying to touch them.
Don’t run or turn your back if you encounter wildlife, make loud noises and wave your arms – try and scare it away.
Finally, the city says if an animal acts in an unusual manner call Customer Care with the City but if it is aggressive, call the police.
