The Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre is counting on the public to come out and support their newest fundraiser, heARTworks 2025.
Food Bank Director of Operations and Engagement Deborah Hamp says the event was organized by a group of women called the Art Posse. They developed the event as a way to replace the Artist Against Hunger event that ran in Saskatoon for 30 years before deciding to call it quits last year.
She says the evening will feature live music, a hoop dancer, gourmet tasting stations, and nearly 200 pieces of local art that are all up for grabs via live and silent auctions.
“There’s really something for everyone. There are price points from $30 up to $7500 and lots to see. I think we have 31 pieces on the live auction, and I’ve lost count of how many pieces on the silent, but it’s going to be a very dynamic evening.”
However, the night won’t be limited to fine art.
“I believe there are weavers, a tattoo artist, quilters, wood carvers. There is even a young person who is a fashion designer who is offering up a custom-made suit.”
The deadline to purchase tickets is April 21st. They can be bought online at eventbright.ca, and all proceeds are going toward funding operations at the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre.
