Man waving gun
The Saskatoon Police Service say a 50-year-old man is facing weapons charges after patrol officers responded Saturday to a report of a man waving a firearm in a parking lot on Preston Avenue North.
The call came in around 6:30 p.m. from the 1700 block of Preston North and while the suspect was located, police say he refused to cooperate with responding officers. They used a conducted energy weapon to take him into custody.
Police say the suspect was found to be in possession of a replica handgun (loaded with CO2 and pellets), a can of bear spray, and a knife. He is charged with three counts each of Possession of a Dangerous Weapon and Carrying Concealed Weapon as well as one count Possession of Prohibited Weapon.
Attack on city bus
The Saskatoon Serious Assault Unit is investigating a stabbing which took place over the weekend.
Officers were called around 3:20 p.m. Sunday to the 1900 block of 20th Street West after a 14-year-old boy reported being assaulted.
He told officers he’d been riding a transit bus when he was approached by an unknown male who tried to rob him before stabbing him and getting off the bus. The 14-year-old suffered a minor injury in the incident.
The suspect, who was with another male at the time, is described as approximately 16 years of age, wearing a dark blue sweater and black shorts with a red and white stripe.
Hit and run
Saskatoon Police Service says officers responded to 22nd Street West and Avenue Y South where a woman was located – injured.
Police say this was around 9:30 p.m. on Monday and the woman appeared to have been hit by a vehicle.
The 47-year-old woman was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
