A Toronto man has been arrested and charged in connection to a death in North Battleford last fall

On October 16th at approximately 10:30 p.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report that someone had been seriously injured outside a business on the 900 block of 101st Street in North Battleford.

The victim, 63-year-old Pearl Benson from Red Pheasant First Nation, was declared decease at hospital.

On April 11th Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes arrested a man at a correctional centre in Manitoba in relation to her death.

Twenty-two-year-old Billy Leon from Toronto is charged with one count, second-degree murder and one count, fail to comply with release order conditions. He is scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court to faces those charges on Thursday.
