Saskatoon residents are now eligible for a rebate for installing rain barrels at their home.
The City of Saskatoon is offering rebates of up to $40 for rain barrels which can be used to capture rainwater for gardening and landscaping.
The way to get the rebate is to purchase a rain barrel from a participating retailer, complete the rebate application form on the City of Saskatoon website then submit your receipts and proofs of purchase.
The City of Saskatoon says one rain barrel rebate per year for households. They say during an average year a 1,000 square foot roof will capture enough rain water to fill a 55 gallon rain barrel 110-125 times during the gardening season.
The rebate program is also available to schools, community gardens and businesses.
