The Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy has touched a lot of lives and organizations.

       Wednesday’s passing of the S-J-H-L team’s athletic therapist Dayna Brons hit hard at two groups…those that work as support staff for teams and the other being the Saskatchewan SWAT lacrosse teams. Brons was the athletic therapist for many players within the SWAT umbrella of minor lacrosse teams. With that in mind, the SWAT organization will hold a flower ceremony and moment of silence in memory of Dayna Brons prior to their first exhibition Junior B game against the Regina Barracudas on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Gordie Howe-Kinsmen Arena. The Saskatchewan SWAT Lacrosse Club would like to offer our sincere condolences to the Brons family during this heart-breaking time. Dayna Brons was an Athletic Therapist for many of our players within the SWAT organization ranging from Midget, Bantam and Junior B teams. Dayna passed away yesterday, Wednesday, April 11, 2018, surrounded by friends and family.

In honour of Dayna and all those lost and still recovering we, the Saskatchewan SWAT will be holding a flower ceremony and moment of silence before our first home exhibition game on Saturday, April 14 at 2:00 PM inside Gordie Howe Kinsmen Arena. This brief ceremony will include both the current Saskatchewan SWAT players of the Junior B team, alumni, and staff as well as the visiting Regina Barracuda Lacrosse Club. 

In keeping with the family’s request for privacy, we will not be conducting any further interviews about Dayna Brons. However, if media would like to attend the game on Saturday to get footage, that is acceptable. The Saskatchewan SWAT will host an open house in the coming weeks before our regular season home opener weekend on May 5, once teams, coaching staff and players have been finalized.
