An EF-2 tornado has just been confirmed as having touched down in Saskatchewan earlier this summer. Environment Canada meteorologist Terri Lang says it was east of Erwood, in northeast Saskatchewan on July 2nd this year. And she says it was seen from satellite imagery.
“It looks like the path was a number of kilometres long. It looks like maybe over even 20 kilometres long based on the, you know, amount of trees that were downed and stuff so the estimated wind speed…190 kilometres per hour.
She says it was in a remote area and not too many towns so that would explain why it wasn’t seen by actual people. Erwood is east of Hudson Bay. The tornado was determined by satellite imagery showing the path of destruction.
