Is there any end to the variety of phone scams? Apparently not. The City of Saskatoon says someone is pretending to be from the city’s Utility Collections Department. The con artist phones, claiming your utility bill payment is overdue and your service is going to be discontented. The city only disconnects service after the customer receives a written notice and if accounts are not kept current. If you get such a call, do not give out you credit card number or any banking information. You can call the city’s Utility Collections Department to confirm the identity of a collections employee. If you get a suspicious call, you are encouraged to call police.
