58-year-old Gerard Loehr has been sentenced in a historic sexual assault case.
In 2019, a woman contacted Wynyard RCMP to file a report of sexual assault, dating back to between 1990 and 1996, when Loehr was a teacher in the area. Five more individuals came forward in the case.
The music teacher was living in Ottawa at the time of his arrest in 2020. When all was said and done he was sentenced in Yorkton Provincial Court on three sexual assault charges and the combination of concurrent and consecutive sentences resulted in 609 days which is about 1 year and 9 months in jail. He also faces a DNA Order, a Firearm Prohibition for 10 years and a no contact order with the victims.
He initially was facing five counts of sexual assault and six counts of sexual interference and was found guilty on three counts of sexual assault last November.
