Four Saskatchewan Huskie football players will look to take a step closer to their dream of playing pro at this weekend’s CFL Combine in Toronto… The event will feature the nation’s top football players displaying their skills for coaches, general managers and player personnel….
The Huskies will be represented by: Running Back-Adam Machart, Defensive Linemen-Nathan Cherry and Riley Pickett and Offensive Lineman-Noah Zerr.
Players report to Toronto today for medical evaluation before hitting the field Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
CJWW had a chance to catch up with Pickett and Machart prior to their them leaving Saskatoon. Their conversations are below:
Adam Machart: The Uteck Bowl MVP, Machart has been nothing but sensational over the last two seasons for the Huskies. The Centennial Collegiate product earned the second U SPORTS First-Team All-Canadian and Canada West All-Star nods of his career this season after leading Saskatchewan to a 5-1 regular-season and ultimately, the program’s first Vanier Cup appearance since 2006 — thanks to his go-ahead touchdown with just five seconds left in the national semifinal. Machart is the Huskies single-season rushing record-holder after racking up 1,330 yards in 2019.
Riley Pickett: Pickett was a part of a dominant one-two punch with Cherry along the defensive line this season for the Dogs. The Centennial Collegiate graduate earned the first Canada West All-Star nod of his Huskies career, after racking up 11 total tackles and three sacks in five-regular season games. He went on to add another 22 total tackles and three sacks in four postseason games. Two of those sacks came against the Montreal Carabins, where he was named the defensive MVP of the Uteck Bowl.
