An investigation is underway by the Prince Albert Police Service and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service following the death of a female inmate at Pine Grove Correctional Centre Friday morning.

The 33-year-old female inmate was found unresponsive in her cell with corrections staff calling E-M-S, who initiated life-saving measures before declaring her deceased at around 8:45 a.m. The death is not related to COVID-19 and attempts are being made to notify next-of-kin. The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety will also be conducting an internal investigation.
