Researchers from the University of Saskatchewan who monitor the wastewater in North Battleford, Saskatoon and Prince Albert for COVID-19 say the total viral load remains relatively low, which indicates a fairly constant level of infections in all three cities.
Saskatoon’s RNA viral load is up 22 per cent while North Battleford saw an increase of 214.7 per cent, which is still within the low range of recordings since January.
Prince Albert’s RNA load is down 6 per cent.
Omicron BA.2 is still accounting for majority of the viral load in all three cities, however the latest data shows a strong presence of BA.5 in both Saskatoon and North Battleford.
