The government of Canada has announced a recall update on various corded window coverings due to strangulation and choking hazards to children.
The specific products being recalled are:
Aspen Cordless Wood Blinds
Mirage PVC mini blinds with PVC Headrail
Tristan Faux Wood Blinds
and Jean H Henle Blinds
Health Canada has determined that the recalled blinds do not meet the Corded Window Coverings Regulations and pose a strangulation hazard. The design of the product does not properly address the hazards of exposed operating cords.
The federal government is informing consumers that they should immediately stop using the recalled products and keep all of the cords away from children. The cord(s) should be cut and the product disposed of. Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
It was reported that the Chinese manufactured blinds had almost 2400 units sold in Canada between May 2021 to July 2022.
As of August 11, 2022 the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.
