The Saskatchewan Federation of Labour (SFL), along with workers and activists in Saskatoon gathered today in front of the Saskatoon Cabinet office to send a message to Scott Moe and the Saskatchewan Party.
That message being, the provincial government must do a better job of looking after all residents in the province. Issues raised by presenters during the news conference included minimum wage, public and private school funding, inflation rates, hospital access and job opportunities in the province.
President of Saskatchewan Federation of Labour Lori Johb says, “Don’t be looking over sea’s to bring people in, take care of the people in this province, provide education and we will have workers, we don’t need to look elsewhere.”
The SFL had several members showing their support at the news conference. They had many signs outlining their issues towards the government and have posted them on the exterior of the Saskatoon Cabinet Office.
Carla Beck, leader of the Saskatchewan NDP party, also made the trip from Regina to speak in front of SFL members. She presented on multiple points that the Sask Party has lost it’s ways and is no longer caring for the entire province. She also believes that winning the seat in the upcoming Meewasin by-election will be a step towards positive change in the province. The NDP has chosen local business owner, Nathaniel Teed as their candidate.
