A public inquest into the death of Curtis McKenzie will be held October 31st to November 4th at the Coronet Hotel in Prince Albert.
The province says in a news release that the inquest is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
Twenty-seven-year-old McKenzie was found unresponsive in his cell at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary in P.A. on February 26th, 2020. He was then transported to hospital. He was the pronounced deceased on March 9th.
The Saskatchewan Coroners Service is responsible for the investigation of all sudden, unexpected deaths. The purpose of an inquest is to establish who died, when and where the person died and the medical cause and manner of death. The coroner’s jury may make recommendations to prevent similar deaths.
