There have been many changes in the fertilizer market between visits to our province by a well-known fertilizer analyst based in the United States.
The Director of Fertilizer for StoneX, Josh Linville spoke to producers in the summer heat during a presentation at Ag in Motion in July. Linville returned to minus 25 Celsius temperatures last week as a featured speaker at the the Prairie Oat Growers Association convention in Saskatoon.
There was a lot of concern about the potential for even higher fertilizer prices this summer following the start of the war between Russia and Ukraine. It was thought sanctions on natural gas exports would push fertilizer prices higher, but that did not happen for phosphate, potash and urea. However, it turns out values for phosphate, potash and urea are lower—but the same cannot be said for anhydrous or UAN. (urea ammonium nitrate)
CJWW Agriculture Director Neil Billinger spoke to Josh Linville last Thursday.
