The Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement is buying Pleasant Hill School, meaning the school will close at the end of June after this school year. Saskatoon Public Schools Board Chair Colleen MacPherson says, we know that the closure is happening sooner than anticipated but the Ministry identified the school as the ideal site for potential future projects.
The sale of the property is two years early. MacPherson says SPS wouldn’t sell the property this early and without a public tender process unless they were assured it would be used as a significant asset for the community’s benefit, but she adds that plans for the site are not hers to divulge.
The students of Pleasant Hill, Princess Alexandra and King George Schools are being brought together in one school to be built on the Princess Alexandra site. The students at Pleasant Hill will be transported to King George School next year and teaching and support staff will be transferred to other schools or provided other opportunities within the division.
The target opening date for the City Centre Project is September of 2025.
