Sadness at the Saskatchewan Legislature Tuesday. The M-L-A for Regina Walsh Acres, Derek Meyers (pictured), passed away at the age of 45 following a long battle with cancer. A former sports reporter and anchor with Global in Regina, Meyers was elected to the Legislature in 2020 on behalf of the Sask Party. Meyers lost his 17-year-old daughter to suicide just days before the election writ dropped in 2020 and became a, “tireless advocate on behalf of everyone facing mental health challenges,” according to a Twitter post by Premier Scott Moe.
