If you were in Saskatoon today, you may have noticed black smoke billowing in the north end. Emergency crews responded to the 1900 block of Quebec Avenue for a report of a fire at 10:26 this morning (Mon) at BN Steel and Metals. Fire crews found heavy smoke and visible flames in a metal recycling pile.
The Saskatoon Fire Department says traffic detours were set up on Quebec Avenue to protect the water hoses running across the road. The fire was brought under control at 11:19. Crews remained to extinguish hot spots and by 1:30, traffic restrictions were removed. The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined yet and there is no damage estimate at this time.
