The plaintiffs in the Gardiner class action lawsuit, on behalf of the Survivors of the Ile-a-la-Crosse Residential School will be in court this morning (Wed). They are seeking a stay of proceedings in the case brought by Merchant Law Group that has been inactive for nearly two decades.
Instead, with support from Metis Nation-Saskatchewan and the Ile-a-la-Crosse Survivors’ Committee, arguments will be brought forward in support of the new Gardiner class action filed last December. Staying proceedings in the first case would then allow the litigation and potential settlement processes to move forward.
