The artwork of Indigenous artist Vanessa Hyggen decorates the bus shelter at the corner of Preston Avenue and Adelaide Street.
The Lac La Ronge artist created the structure in cooperation with the City of Saskatoon and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG). Wednesday’s ceremony at Market Mall was held on “Sisters in Spirit Day”.
Four other Saskatoon Transit bus shelters displaying Indigenous artwork are located at:
-Confederation Drive and Massey Drive
-Rusholme Road at E.D. Feehan High School
-Broadway Avenue and 12th Street
-Clarence Avenue at Aden Bowman Collegiate
The bus shelters stand as a tribute to the lives affected by this tragic issue, a call for justice, and a symbol of hope for a brighter tomorrow.
