The number of homes that are up for sale in Saskatchewan is at the lowest level reported for the month of September since 2009.
That, from the Saskatchewan Realtors Association with their monthly report, which also states that although there were fewer homes available, there was a year-over-gain of 2.5 per cent in home sales across the province and the 1,295 sales is 6.3 per cent above the long-term, ten-year averages.
SRA spokesperson, Cole Zawislak says supply challenges continue across the province, and especially in the affordable housing market. Compared to the ten-year average, housing inventory is down 32 per cent. He notes that other provinces are seeing fewer sales because of higher interest rates and the high cost of living, but Saskatchewan’s relative affordability and strong economic growth continues to support above average home sales in this market.
In general, prices for homes have risen year-over-year in Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Melville, Melfort, Meadow Lake and Humboldt, while Estevan, Moose Jaw, North Battleford, Regina, Swift Current, Weyburn and Yorkton have seen a decline.
