Salmonella-contaminated cantaloupe continues to affect Canadians across the country.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency originally issued food recall warnings on November 1, 14 and 17 for Malichita brand cantaloupes sold between October 11 and November 14.
As of December 7, there have been 129 laboratory-confirmed cases of Salmonella. Forty-four people have been hospitalized, and five deaths have been reported.
Products affected include all forms of the melon such as cubes, halves, slices, fruit salads containing cantaloupe, and fruit trays. The trays prepared with a best before date from Oct 4, 2023 up to and including November 11, 2023 are the ones in question.
If you think you became sick from consuming recalled cantaloupe, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency advises you to contact your healthcare provider and throw out the affected fruit.
