SaskEnergy and SaskPower have joined together on a rebate to help make homes more efficient. It’s called the Home Efficiency Retrofit Rebate, which provides eligible homeowners with rebates to be used towards upgrading their home’s insulation, air-sealing, windows, and doors.
Spokesperson for SaskEnergy, Jodi Woollam, encourages homeowners to sign up, saying increased energy efficiency programming is an important part of helping everyone to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. She explains that homeowners must first apply for the Canada Greener Homes Grant, which provides up to $5,0000 for home retrofits and $600 to put toward home energy audits.
The retrofit rebate from SaskEnergy and SaskPower offers customers additional rebates of up to $1,8000 towards optimizing home energy use and there is an additional $200 to subsidize the cost of having an EnerGuid advisor evaluate the home before and after the upgrades are installed.
