The first week of 2024 will see a gradual cooling off to temperatures more around the average for this time of the year by the weekend and possibly a little colder next week. That’s according to Environment Canada meteorologist Terri Lang who adds that although there may be some snow, there isn’t a significant amount in the forecast. She explains that there isn’t as much moisture in colder air, so for more snow, we need a weather system to come from the south or southwest. As well, the weather systems are moving through quickly and when that happens, we don’t usually get a lot of snow out of them.
Although it’s not a deep freeze, Lang suggests it will feel colder, because we have all gotten used to the milder weather. The average high in the Saskatoon area for this time of year is -10 and the low is -20. For Prince Albert, the average is -13 and -24 and for Regina, it’s around -11 and -21.
