On Christmas Day around 5:30 in the afternoon, Indian Head RCMP were alerted of a break and enter at a church in Moffat, sometime between the afternoon of the 24th and late Christmas Day. Moffat is about 114 kilometres southeast of Regina.
Officers report that items in the building were damaged and wiring was cut out, including wiring to 240-volt heaters. A 50-foot rug, a heating unit, and an unknown number of candles and candle holders and some bins were stolen.
In a Facebook post, Moffat United Church thanks everyone for their support and concern, and says regular monthly services will be back in the spring. The church community looks forward to celebrating 140 years this summer.
Anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact the Indian Head RCMP or submit an anonymous tip through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
