Victim impact statements were heard in a Regina court room today (Fri), at the sentencing hearing for Alphonse Traverse. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter and vehicle theft last September in the death of a 26-year-old RCMP officer.
It was June 12th of 2021 that Constable Shelby Patton from the Indian Head detachment was killed in the line of duty. He conducted a traffic stop on a truck in Wolsley which was suspected to be stolen from Manitoba. An RCMP report says, “While outside of his police vehicle, Constable Patton was struck and killed by the truck.”
The judge has reserved his sentencing decision to a later date.
