This is the tenth year for projects which help protect, beautify and improve local spaces inside and out, through Co-op Community Spaces, a program from Federated Co-operatives Limited and Co-ops across Western Canada.
So far, 175 projects dedicated to recreation, environmental conservation and agriculture have been supported.
This year, $1 million is available for capital projects like educational spaces, community gardens and recreational facilities.
Registered non-profit organizations and charities or community service co-operatives can apply online through March 1st for funding between $25,000 and $150,000 per project is available.
Last year’s projects included a playscape and outdoor classroom in Englefeld and an outdoor multi court for volleyball, tennis and basketball in Pinehouse Lake.
