The Saskatoon fire department responded to two fires Sunday including one downtown where firefighters could see a half ton truck inside a garage was filled with flames consuming the interior of the cab. That call came in at 4:52 p.m. from the 200 block of 3rd Avenue South.
One fire crew worked on putting out the fire while another crew entered the building to determine whether the fire had extended inside and to make sure everyone had evacuated their suites.
The second call came in just before midnight from the 10-hundred block of Dufferin Avenue and firefighters could see smoke and flame coming from a detached garage in the Nutana neighbourhood. Once the fire was out fans were set up to remove lingering smoke and toxins.
No one was injured, everyone got out safely in both instances and a fire investigator is identifying the cause, origin and damage estimate in both fires.
