The last member of the three-person arbitration panel, that will wade through the issues of class complexity-accountability framework and wages for Saskatchewan teachers, has been determined.
The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation’s Teachers’ Bargaining Committee named Dawn Harkness as its nominee. Harkness is a recently retired teacher and principal from the Saskatoon Public Schools system. She joins Daniel Ish, a former USask law professor and dean of the College of Law as the arbitrator while Greg Chatlain, a former education director for Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, is the Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee’s nominee on the panel.
The committee opted for binding arbitration after consulting with members, aiming for a new collective agreement. Both sides will present their cases, and the panel will issue a legally binding decision. The STF said arbitration dates will be announced soon.
