A 31-year-old man has been charged with first degree murder in connection to a Saskatoon Police investigation into the death of a 33-year-old man on December 14th. Patrol officers responded to an injured person report around 1:30 that morning in the back alley of the 2700 block of 21st Street West and found a man who had been shot. He was transported to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators determined the victim had been in a confrontation with an individual, which led to a gun being fired. At the time, Saskatoon Police reported it didn’t appear the two were known to each other. Another man was with the victim, but he wasn’t injured.
Wednesday, Saskatoon Police along with the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team located the man and took him into custody. He makes his first court appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court Thursday morning. The homicide was Saskatoon’s 11th of 2023.
