The Prince Albert Police Service responded to the first bear spray attack at 6:15 p.m. involving four victims including two children attending the PAEX 2024 Summer Fair. A teen was arrested at the scene and charged with assault with a weapon.
At 8:53 p.m. police were alerted to a second bear spray incident affecting approximately 20 adults and children which is still under investigation with no charges laid as yet. At 10:39 p.m. officers responded to the Exhibition grounds after a woman was seen allegedly using a large knife to slash tires. A suspect was located, and a Conducted Energy Weapon was used to take her into custody. At this point a 24-year-old woman is charged with resisting arrest.
Shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday police received a report of a third bear spray attack on a crowd of people which is also under investigation with no charges laid as yet.
Prince Albert Police say they are working closely with the Prince Albert Exhibition Association and their security services to enhance public safety measures for the remainder of the exhibition. It will include an increased police presence, implementation of additional security protocols and improved communication channels between police and security working the event.
