It was a police pursuit that began in the Ahtahkakoop First Nation and ended in a wooded area near Whitefish First Nation. The Saskatchewan RCMP Warrant Enforcement Suppression Team noticed a vehicle reported stolen out of Big River earlier that day while in Ahtahkakoop First Nation and when officers tried to stop it, the truck sped off, nearly hitting the police vehicle and heading out on Highway 790.
Police say at one point, officers observed the driver and passenger switch places. It ended up going down an unmarked dirt trail, which the RCMP vehicle couldn’t follow on, so Big River RCMP came to help with their ATV and a drone was used to locate the vehicle. A woman was found in a field and the stolen vehicle was found abandoned, with considerable damage.
