The RCMP says residents of Red Earth Cree Nation can expect to see an increased police presence this week as they continue to investigate the death of Ericson Bear.
The 31-year-old was hit by a vehicle on Highway 163 on February 12th this year. The vehicle did not remain at the scene and the victim died at the scene.
Up until now RCMP had not released the name of the victim but say they are doing so in order to further the investigation.
Ericson Bear was from Red Earth Cree Nation and police are encouraging anyone with information, including information about the vehicle or individuals involved, to contact them by calling 310-RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
Red Earth Cree Nation is approximately 80 kilometres northeast of Nipawin.
