Once you have paid your admission to the Saskatoon Ex, all of the entertainment on various stages throughout the grounds and strolling through Prairieland are free. Susan Kuzma, manager of Signature Events at Prairieland, believes some people come for the rides, others for the food, and some prefer catching all of the entertainment. She adds that on those hot days, you can also head inside for some shows and to do some shopping while enjoying the air conditioning.
You will find a hypnotist at the Ex, twin magicians, a stunt show and an escape artist along with the Superdogs and a one-man band. The Midway and Kidsville includes some of the classic rides like the Zipper, but Kuzma says there are also ten new rides to check out.
There are new food vendors as well, but Kuzma suggests the classics will always be popular – spudnuts, Doukhobor bread and mini doughnuts, along with many different food choices on a stick. You can also check out the Exhibition Museum in the log cabin on the grounds. Kuzma says it opened up two years ago to showcase historical pieces from the 139 years the Ex has been around.
The Saskatoon Ex continues through Sunday, noon to midnight each day. Kuzma estimates between 220 and 225,000 people go through the gates over the six days of the Ex, ranging from 30 to 55,000 people a day.
