The Saskatoon Police Service believes they have obtained a photo of a woman involved in the ongoing Grandparent Scam saga.
The scam involves a potential victim, often an older adult, who receives a phone call from someone claiming to be a family member in an emergency and requiring money. Often, the callers work in pairs. The first scammer might connect the victim to another person claiming to be a police officer, lawyer, doctor or other authority figure.
Police encourage families, especially with older or vulnerable adults, to discuss scams like the Grandparent Scam to prevent victimization in the community.
Anyone with information about the person-of-interest in the photo is asked to contact the SPS or Crime Stoppers.
Meantime, the Moose Jaw Police Service says it has received several reports of the scam in recent days, and it is also advising the public to be vigilant.
