As of 11:00pm last night, SaskTel says crews had restored all services in downtown Saskatoon that were out as a result of a vandalism incident.
SaskTel spokesperson, Greg Jacobs says around 5am Friday morning, someone broke into a pedestal along 2nd Avenue South and ripped out or damaged cabling inside and that caused an outage of internet, television and landline phone services for about 150 of the Crown Corporation’s customers in the downtown area.
Pedestals are the boxes you see in neighbourhoods or back alleys, and they house the cabling that serves the homes and businesses in the area. Jacobs says the box appears to have been pried open.
SaskTel apologizes for any inconvenience this outage may have caused for customers and thanks them for their patience while they worked to restore services.
