Charges laid in shooting at Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation

Rosthern RCMP have arrested and charged a suspect in the suspicious death on the Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation.

Twenty-year-old Clayton Mandes who is from the First Nation was charged with one count of manslaughter and will appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court today. RCMP have also identified the individual who died as 28-year-old Denzel Cameron also of Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation.

RCMP responded to a weapons call at a home on Beardy’s and Okemasis’ Cree Nation around 2:20 a.m. Saturday. They say a firearm was discharged, a man was injured and while EMS provided medical aid the man died shortly after. Clayton Mandes was arrested without incident at a home at Beardy’s and Okemasis’ also on Saturday.
