Over the weekend NDP leader Carla Beck appeared alongside former NDP Premier Lorne Calvert as well as Moose Jaw NDP candidates and promised to build a new elementary school in Moose Jaw.
In a news release Beck said, “After 17 years of Scott Moe and the Sask. Party, we’ve fallen to last place in education and healthcare. Families deserve a government that will ensure their kids have a place to learn and get the care they need.”
The proposed new elementary school would replace St. Michael School. She also said they would hire more teachers and education workers to ensure every child has the support they need.
Sask. Party leader Scott Moe was also in Moose Jaw on Saturday where he highlighted announcements earlier in the week such as reducing provincial income tax, saving a family of four $3400 and a senior couple $3100 over four years, increasing the Graduate Retention Program benefit by 20 per cent to a maximum of $24,000, doubling the Active Families Benefit from $150 to $300 per year per child and introducing a Home Renovation Tax Credit of $4,000 per year, $5,000 for seniors.
Carla Beck also took the opportunity during her visit to Moose Jaw to criticize the Saskatchewan Party over healthcare in the city where the NDP claims the hospital has seen 231 days where basic radiography and laboratory services were not available, with repeated blackouts to obstetrics care, bariatric services, and CT scans.
Saskatchewan Party Leader Scott Moe will begin the second week of the provincial election campaign this morning in Regina, while NDP Leader Carla Beck will have an availability at the RCMP Emerald Park/White Butte Detachment early this afternoon.
