Mark Arcand has been re-elected as Tribal Chief of the Saskatoon Tribal Council for his third term. When learning the results of Thursday’s vote at a Treaty Assembly of representatives from the STC’s seven member communities, Arcand said he doesn’t want to talk about winners and losers, because the people are rewarded by everyone working together, and that’s what the Saskatoon Tribal is. He says, “We are united, and we work together to help people.”
Arcand was first elected as Tribal Chief in 2017, following two terms as Vice Chief. A news release from the STC says reversing intergenerational trauma caused by Indian Residential Schools has been a focus through Arcand’s career, with an emphasis on promoting cultural education and supporting families and youth.
