A 47-year-old Radisson man has been arrested in connection to a suspicious person investigation. Maidstone RCMP report that investigators identified the man who approached and spoke to a young child at a playground at Sandy Beach Regional Park on August 27th. Officers learned he was on court-ordered peace bond conditions not to be at a playground. He was arrested at a home in Radisson on October 16th and police say three loaded, unsecured firearms were seized during a search warrant executed at the home.
The charges for Sir Brent Habetler include a number of firearms-related charges and one count of disobeying a court order. Sir is not his name from birth. He had it officially changed. Habetler was remanded into custody until he appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Tuesday and was released on conditions that include staying inside his home 24 hours a day. He is being electronically monitored and among other conditions, he is not to attend any area where children under 16 may typically be present for school or recreation.
The Prince George Citizen says back in 2000, Habetler was charged with two counts of committing an indecent act in Prince George, British Columbia. One of the charges was dropped and Habetler was acquitted on the other.
More recently, in March of 2023, Habetler was charged with committing an indecent act at Bioclean Aquatics Centre in Lloydminster. He faced the same charge in Bermuda in November of 2023 and was found guilty.
