It’s my Parting Shot, from Prince George, B-C, for some Tuesday Tidbits – including a quick thought on all seven N-H-L teams so far this season…..
A couple of things from last night’s N-F-L Monday Night contest. One, I’d have gone for the two-point convert and the win, if I was Tampa Bay and head coach Todd Bowles, with 20 or so seconds left in the fourth quarter! You have a chance to end the undefeated start of the Kansas City Chiefs! Do it and stamp yourself as a team to be wary of!! Second point, at some point and time, the remaining, living members of the 1972 undefeated Miami Dolphins, will be able to gather and crack open the bottle of champagne to signify that they have gone another year as being the only N-F-L to not have a blemish on their seasonal record!
Now for quick hits on the seven Canadian-based N-H-L teams, starting with my Winnipeg Jets. They’re very good – everybody in the league knows it, except for the population in the Manitoba capital and surrounding area who want to gripe about having to pay major league prices for major league entertainment. Sad to say, but Winnipeg doesn’t deserve the N-H-L!
The Montreal Canadiens have a lot of good, young talent but are not winning – which should mean either G-M Kent Hughes or head coach Martin St. Louis should be fired!
The Ottawa Senators are a .500 team, not good enough right now to make the playoffs. One good defensive defenceman acquisition would do the trick!
The Vancouver Canucks need goaltender Thatcher Demko to come back healthy, and soon, plus Elias Pettersson needs to return to the way he can play, considering the money he gets!
The Calgary Flames are similar to Ottawa – a .500 team that likely needs an upgrade in goal and some scoring help!
The Edmonton Oilers are going to be fine, as much as I enjoy watching their inconsistency early this season!
And, Toronto Maple Leafs’ G-M Brad Treliving needs to move away from the Core Four sooner than later! Mitch Marner is the poster boy for petulance and entitlement, playing when he wants to and frustrating the heck out of a very good head coach in Craig Berube!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk in Prince George, B-C…and it turned out nice again!
