The resolution to limit president and vice-president terms to a maximum of six years was introduced at the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities Midterm (SARM) Midterm convention in Saskatoon on Wednesday afternoon.
RM of Mariposa Division Two Councillor Jeremy Welter spoke in favor of the resolution.
RM of Blucher Administrator Doran Scott spoke against the resolution
Delegates voted 74.5 per cent against the resolution.
The last SARM president—Ray Orb—served 10 years in the position. His predecessor, current cabinet minister David Marit, was SARM president for a slightly longer period.
