It was a case of too little, too late Friday night for the Saskatoon Blades in Regina.

Three, third period goals left the Bridge City Bunch one short in a 4-3 loss to the Pats, extending the Blue and Gold’s winless streak to five games.  The Blades failed to score on four power play chances in a scoreless first period, with Regina responding with three goals in the second frame to take control of the game. Former Saskatoon winger Zach Moore squeezed a goal in between all the Bridge City Bunch markers in the third as Regina ended a run of six consecutive regular-season head-to-head losses to the Blue and Gold, dating back to October, 2023. Two of the Saskatoon goals came with netminder Ethan McCallum on the bench for an extra attacker. Ben Riche, Tyler Parr and Isaac Poll, with his first career W-H-L tally, scored for the Blades while Brandon Lisowsky extended his points streak to eight games with two assists. The Pats improved to 8-17-5 for the season while Saskatoon is now 17-9-4 with one game remaining before a 12-day break for Christmas. That contest comes up Sunday at SaskTel Centre at 4 o’clock against the Brandon Wheat Kings.
