The Regina Police Service has charged a 29-year-old man in connection to a stolen vehicle, which seemingly began as a citizen doing a good deed.
Just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a stolen vehicle in progress at the 2900 block of Parliament Avenue. They learned the victim’s vehicle was stuck in the snow and a man stopped to help, but instead, after getting it out of the snow he took off in the vehicle.
Police say shortly after, the vehicle was involved in a hit and run, but at the time weren’t able to find the suspect. Later that day, around 4:30 in the afternoon, the vehicle was found parked in the 800 block of Victoria Avenue and the suspect was arrested.
The charges for Jesse Martin-French of Regina are vehicle theft and possession of property obtained by crime, less that $5,000. He made his first court appearance in Regina Provincial Court this morning (Mon).
