The provincial NDP held a news conference on Tuesday to release statistics obtained through a Freedom of Information request.
The most recent annual Education Staffing Report shows there are 86.3 fewer classroom and distance learning teachers working today than in 2020.
Over the same period, student enrollment increased by 12,869, or 15,594 if Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre students are included.
“Teachers tell us they feel burnt out and ignored, and some parent are even considering leaving the province to get their kids the supports they need,” said Matt Love, Saskatchewan NDP Shadow Education Minister.
