Prince Albert Police have seized four firearms from the community between yesterday afternoon and this morning.
Yesterday (Wed), an officer in the 1100 block of 1st Avenue West recognized a man with outstanding warrants on the street. After his arrested, police found a firearm and methamphetamine in the 40-year-old’s backpack.
Also yesterday, during a traffic stop on Highway 55 East just after lunch, officers seized meth and a firearm from a 23-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman. The man also tested positive for cocaine.
Then, at 1:00 p.m., police arrested five suspicious people at the mall in the 1400 block of Central Avenue. Four males and a female were arrested without incident and upon a search of their persons, a handgun was located inside one of their backpacks. The firearm was seized by police and investigation is ongoing.
Finally, at 12:20 p.m. today, police received a call from the Prince Albert Fire Department regarding a suspected impaired driver causing a collision and then fleeing on foot. The white SUV involved in the crash had also been reported stolen. Officers learned that the female driver was seen exiting the vehicle with a bottle of alcohol along with another female and three males. A sawed-off shotgun and ammunition were found inside the vehicle.
